Fort Huachuca Access

You must complete an in person security clearance and get your access badge at Fort Huachuca prior to getting on your trip van to Fort Huachuca. The Visitor Control Center is open 24/7 and is where you get your clearance. It is located off Highway 90 at Hatfield Street and Buffalo Solider Trail. It is also known as the Van Deman Gate. Some people will need a drivers license plus a second ID to get your access card. Please see the Field Trip General Info tab for more information. We can no longer offer access to Fort Huachuca for our foreign visitors. However many of our other trips offer access to the same habitats and birds and are open to non- U.S.citizens.

Be sure to make any lodging reservations in Sierra Vista well in advance. The first week in May is a peak birding time in southeast Arizona. We urge you to make lodging reservations as early as you can and ask for a special Southwest Wings rate. Our sponsoring hotel is Sierra Suites on Fry Boulevard. See here. They provide a to go box breakfast when you leave early. A map of their location is here.
